OKLAHOMA CITY — The Classen School of Advanced Studies at Northeast softball team split a doubleheader against Southeast on Aug. 21, highlighted by a dramatic walk-off win in the opener.

In Game 1, the Lady Comets edged Southeast 7-6 in five innings after Ashlynn Vence delivered the game-winning single to score the deciding run. Senior pitcher Adrienne Hill earned the victory, allowing three hits and six runs — three of them earned — while striking out seven. Vence led the offense from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Southeast’s pitcher struck out eight in the loss, but Classen SAS@NE showed discipline at the plate, drawing five walks.

Game 2 went the other way, with Southeast pulling ahead early and handing the Lady Comets a 12-3 defeat. Despite the setback, head coach Hudson praised the team’s depth and resilience.

“This was still a positive performance by some of the younger players on the team,” Hudson said. “Nothing to hang our heads about. We have a lot of games left.”

The Lady Comets will return to action Tuesday, Aug. 26, with a road matchup at John Marshall scheduled for 4 p.m.
