OKLAHOMA CITY — The Classen School of Advanced Studies at Northeast volleyball program secured another strong victory Aug. 19, defeating Midwest City High School in front of a loud home crowd.

The freshman and junior varsity teams each swept their two sets with ease before the varsity squad took the court against the Bombers. The Lady Comets jumped out to a two-set lead but stumbled in the third before regaining control in the fourth. After a back-and-forth battle, Classen SAS@NE pulled away late to clinch the match.

“I am proud of how these young ladies performed tonight,” head coach Nelson said. “The starters got off hot tonight but I am even prouder of the fact that everyone played key minutes and were able to grind it out to bring the team a great win.”

Freshman outside hitter Alana Hardeman praised her teammates for staying locked in despite the atmosphere. “The team executed their plays and their spirit was unmatched even with Midwest City’s student section being loud,” she said.

The Lady Comets will return to action Aug. 22 at the All-City Athletic Conference Tournament hosted at John Marshall High School, opening play against Douglass High School. “I believe the excitement from tonight will set us up to play well at the ACAC Tournament,” Hardeman said.
