OKLAHOMA CITY — The Classen School of Advanced Studies at Northeast softball team opened its season in dominant fashion Aug. 14, sweeping a road doubleheader against Northwest Classen with wins of 15-0 and 15-2.

In the opener, senior pitcher Adrienne Hill was nearly untouchable, throwing a no-hitter with eight strikeouts. The Lady Comets’ offense backed her with a big night at the plate, led by senior Josalyn Abney’s 4-for-4 performance that included four RBIs. Senior Ashlynn Vence added two hits and two RBIs in as many at-bats.

Game 2 saw sophomore Lauren Talley take over in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 to secure the sweep.

“We have a strong senior class this year and they showed up big last night,” head coach Hudson said.

The Lady Comets will look to continue their momentum Monday, Aug. 18, when they travel to face Putnam City North.
